Every December, my family, like many, celebrates the holidays. About ten years ago, we started a new tradition. It happens on the day we gather for our holiday celebration. We have several catalogs from some of our favorite charities. We each flip through the catalogs, select some giving options (ie. $100 for a herd of goats for a family), cut them out, fold them up, and put them in a basket. We have second basket for the money we will each contribute toward the charity options. The money is totaled, and then we go around the room, youngest to oldest, drawing from the basket with the giving options to see what we will be able to contribute to that year.
This year, as you celebrate this season of giving and joy, remember, one random act of kindness can start a chain reaction. Paying it forward will help make this world a better place.
