National Health Months Across the Board
National Chiropractic Health Month - How is your balance? Do you have knee or muscle pain? Do you have chronic back pain? These are a few of the symptoms that chiropractors can help with. The chiropractic field focuses on our human infrastructure, dealing with our musculoskeletal health and movement. Chiropractic services most often deal with back pain, neck pain, joint pain in our extremeties and headaches. Chiropractors are most often associated with expertise in spinal manipulation and practice a conservative, drug-free approach to health and pain relief. This
year, their theme is Move 4 Life. They are raising awareness and getting people moving for their better overall health.
National Physical Therapy Month - Fixed well in conjunction with chiropractic health is National Physical Therapy
Month. Both focus on our musculoskeletal structures, movement, joints, balance and drug-free recovery. America is facing an opioid and pain killers addiction problem. The more often patients are prescribed heavy drugs as their primary treatment, the more likely addiction can happen (*Note: This does not mean that prescriptions and pain killers don’t have a place in treatment. They do, and sometimes are necessary). This year, the theme is Choose PT. The
American Physical Therapy Association is raising awareness about the dangers of opioid addiction and the great alternatives that physical therapy can provide for drug-free treatments and recoveries.
National Dental Hygiene Month - The American Dental Association uses October for their campaign to promote good oral health. This year, their theme focuses on helping people maintain healthy smiles with tips on how to properly brush, floss, rinse and chew. Here are a few brushing tips: hold your brush at a 45-degree angle to your
gums; brush outer, inner and chewing surfaces on all your teeth; brush your tongue to remove bacteria.
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Pink ribbons, pink socks, pink shirts, pink hats, pink scarves...pink is what we see every October to raise awareness for breast cancer. Many breast cancer symptoms aren’t visible or noticeable without a professional screening or mammogram. The National Breast Cancer Foundation has a guide that tells more about the symptoms and how to be proactive in your health. Go to their website to get your guide:
