June is also National Safety Month. Safety comes in many forms. This month, I want to stress the importance of safety in the workplace, starting with proper attire. Per our employee handbook, closed-toed sneakers or non-slip shoes should be worn while on a shift. Personal care attendants are to wear scrubs; homemakers and companions are to wear khaki or dark colored pants and appropriate tops (no tank tops). Caregivers also should wear their name tags. Proper shoes will help prevent injury; proper attire and wearing name badges will identify you as professionals. We appreciate all your hard work and dedication to our clients and our elders. Stay safe! ~ Lisa Gradzewicz
I used the Uber app to book a ride, and the driver arrived shortly thereafter. Unsure where to sit, I hopped in the front seat. As we started off, the driver started to make unwelcome advances toward me, touching my hand, and then my leg. I slapped his hand away and demanded he stop the car. I got out and walked the rest of the way home; thankfully it wasn’t too far. I say this not to put down Uber, it is a great service; I say this as a reminder: be aware of your surroundings and trust your instincts. Be sure ride in the back seat when taking Uber or a taxi. Your safety comes first!

She loves her children unconditionally and gives everything for them. My mother instilled that in me, and she is the one who inspired me to start
Golden Horizons. Next Sunday, May 8, is Mother’s Day. Let’s celebrate our mothers and reflect on the value of their care and sacrifices in shaping who we are today. Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers! ~ Lisa Gradzewicz
