Don't get me wrong, I think the idea behind New Year's resolutions is great. It's a new year; a chance to start fresh, do better, reset the clock. We all want to be better and do better.
This year, though, I don't want my thinking to be about resetting the clock and starting fresh. This year I want to look at the bigger picture; I want to look at all that has brought me to where I am, and build on that going forward. Each resolution in years past has brought me to this place.
That is an idea for individuals and business. At Golden Horizons, that is what we are looking at going into 2015. We have been in business 18 years, since 1996. We started out in a home. We had a single desk. Today, we have three offices and serve four counties in Connecticut. Each year, we have built on previous goals and accomplishments. Our story is made up of millions of little moments leading to this present one; and this moment, this new year will help continue to write it.
What is that you are resolved to do, dream, achieve in 2015? Whatever it is, keep this idea from Steve Jobs in mind.
“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” -Steve Jobs
