"What's your new year's resolution?" It's an annual tradition for me (and likely every other person in Western society, to ask, or be asked, that question. Well, my answer to that question is, "My new year's resolution
is to have no new year's resolutions."

Or, put another way, "My new year's resolution is to improve on my life goals." For instance, if our are still single and one of your life goals is have a solid marriage and raise a family, this year's resolution could be to join an online dating service to meet new people. If you have a goal of owning your own creative service business, make this year's resolution to purchase a new camera or other equipment to help you be able to provide the services...

Sandy Hook: Always in Our Hearts

Sandy Hook, we remember.
Four years ago today, I was sitting in the same seat I am sitting in now. My colleague came running into my office distraught and asked me, "Did you hear what happened?!" When I said I had not, she told me there was a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School
in Newtown, CT. That news hit close; Newton is an hour drive from here. We all sat transfixed, reading the developing stories, listening to developing news segments. Our hearts wept for those children and professionals whose lives were taken so viciously.

Pearl Harbor 75th

Two days ago was a date that first lived in infamy 75 years ago. 75 years ago, our naval base in Hawaii was surprised and demolished in a horrifying, unprovoked attack. President Roosevelt declared it was a day that would live in infamy as he addressed the joint session of congress.

A member of my own family was there that day. He survived, but he never talked about his experiences there. Another one of my family members served in Europe and died in service to our country.

Yesterday, astronaut, senator and decorated WWII fighter pilot John Glenn passed away. He was 95. He fought for our freedoms and pursued new heights.

In this holiday season remember those who have gone before, thank those who have served our country and protected our freedoms. Our veterans, our elders have wisdom and life experience that many of us can learn from. Ask a Veteran about their experiences. Learn from our elders who have seen much more than we. Wish them all a happy, safe holiday.
