When You Are 64

Beatles: When I'm 64
Celebrating 50 years of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - "When I'm Sixty-Four". Recorded in 1966 at Abbey Road Studios, London by Lennon/McCartney.
When i'M Sixty-Four
The Beatles Bible
When I'm Sixty-Four: The song is sung by a young man to his lover, and is about his plans of growing old together with her. Although the theme is ageing, it was one of the first songs McCartney wrote, when he was 16. It was in the Beatles' setlist early on at the Cavern club, but was tucked away until Paul's father turned 64 according to George Martin (their legendary producer) when the Fab Four group was recording the album Sgt. Pepper. Internet/Wikipedia

Fast forward to June 2017 the world is celebrating this event with a re-release of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The boxed set has been remixed and presented with additional session recordings, and it is the first Beatles' album to be remixed and expanded since the 2003. To create the new stereo and 5.1 surround audio mixes for ‘Sgt. Pepper,’ producer Giles Martin (son of George) worked with audio restoration specialists at Abbey Road Studios in London. This Anniversary edition includes Martin’s new stereo mix incorporating the original four-track session tapes. Credit: The Beatles website.

The When I'm Sixty-Four track off of Sgt. Pepper is significant with today's aging awareness especially during the National Safety month of June. "Will you still need me, will you still feed me", "You'll be older too", "Doing the garden, digging the weeds", "We shall scrimp and save", and "grandchildren on your knee" are all still important to our seniors wellness in the 21st Century by helping them stay safe and secure.

Golden Horizons Elder Care Services, Inc. can assist in making this happen. Our in-home care provides and companions are professional about the lives and livelihood of our silver haired friends. So "Give me your answer, fill in a form" and schedule an appointment when "You are 64" before or after. BTW: When George Martin turned 64 in January 1990, Paul McCartney sent him a birthday greeting and a bottle of wine. As reported by Rolling Stone Magazine.

Thank You Fathers

Thank you to all fathers for your love and devotion.
This Sunday, June 18, we have the privilege of honoring our fathers for their sacrifices on our behalf. A true father is a unique and precious person in our lives; he is one who provides for us, believes in us, unconditionally loves us and pushes us to be all we can be. Not all fathers are ours by blood, some are ours by adoption, some are ours by choice. This month, take time to thank the man who is your father figure. Take him out for dinner, bless him with a gift, give him a hug. Thank him.
We know we will.

Put Safety First, to Help Others You are Caring For
Safety First... Care for Yourself
On an airplane, an oxygen mask descends in front of you. The first rule you are told is to put on your own oxygen mask before you assist anyone else.

Only when we first help ourselves can we effectively help others. The caring of yourself is often side-stepped or one of the most often forgotten things a caregiver can overlook and feel guilty about. The thinking needs to change.

Remember when your health and needs are taken care of first, only then the person you are caring for will benefit the most.

Let's Be Safe Out There
Hill Street Blues Television Show - Google
It's not time for that famous TV show followed by thousands of viewers... but it is time to be aware of our surroundings especially when it comes to safety for our silver friends and loved ones. June is National Safety Month.
June
National Safety Month
Join Golden Horizons Elder Care Services and the National Safety Council with thousands of other organizations in the U.S.A. as we work to raise awareness of what it takes to "Let's Be Safe Out There" during the month of June 2017. The National Safety Month focuses on reducing leading causes of injury or sadly even death. The NSC's website provides facts, tips and procedures to keep seniors safe at work, on the road, and in our home communities. Special emphasis is given on targeting those susceptible to falling down. These procedures may even keep their fine china from accidentally breaking into a thousand pieces.

The National Council on Aging's website lists 6 steps to reducing falls. Click/Tap on "Read More" to review a quick reference list.
