Medicare…Don’t go through it Alone!

- Beginning in April 2018, Medicare will begin mailing new ID cards to all current beneficiaries. The current card ID is a Social Security number. The new card will have a Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) made up of 11 letters and numbers.***Please be aware that there is no charge for these new cards (scammers are already making calls to tell folks that there is a charge and are asking for their Medicare ID #s and checking account information).
- If an individual is already receiving Medicare A and B benefits and wishes to purchase a Medicare Supplement Plan F or Hi-F plan, they will always be able to do so (if doing so within an acceptable enrollment period). However, those individuals who will be eligible for Medicare on or after 01/01/2020 will not be able to purchase a Medicare Supplement Plan F or Hi-F but will have other options to choose from.
Stay tuned next month for information on the Medicare Open Enrollment period to begin 10/15/17.
