1. Are you bonded and insured?
Yes. We are bonded and insured. Bonded means that you are protected should any household items be missing and insured means that, should a caregiver have an accident while on duty at your home, you are protected from any liability.
2. How soon can services begin?
We can provide services within 48 hours, but we request as much notice as possible in order to provide you with the most compatible caregiver for your needs.
3. Do you offer care in assisted living facilities?
Yes. Sometimes the care at an assisted living facility is not enough help a client maintain the independent lifestyle that they desire. In such situations, extra care – like that provided by Golden Horizons – can ensure the continuation of independent living.
4. Is there a minimum hour requirement on a daily or weekly basis?
We have a minimum of 4-hour shifts although 2 or 3-hour shifts may be accommodated if we have a caregiver in the area. If you need just one shift per week or per month, we can schedule that for you.
5. How do you select your caregivers?
We conduct a thorough national criminal background check, driving record check with the Department of Motor Vehicles, drug test with a zero-tolerance policy, personal and business reference check, and an extensive interview prior to hiring. We require each caregiver to have in-service training prior to being assigned to a client in addition to yearly updates.
6. Do I have to sign a contract?
Yes. In the State of Connecticut, you are required to sign a contract in order to do business with us because we are registered with the State as a private care agency. The contract is not binding; you may terminate it at any time with ample notice. We operate with a policy of at least 24-hours notice of cancellation.
7. How do I begin services?
To begin services, call the Golden Horizons office and we will be happy to come to your home and conduct a free, no obligation, initial assessment. If you wish to continue with us, we will contract with you and we will identify caregivers who have the experience, compatibility, and availability to work with you. We then introduce a caregiver to you. If you approve, we train them and they begin work with you.
8. Do you offer short-term care?
Yes. We offer short-term and respite care.
9. Do you provide 24-hour care?
Yes. 24-Hour care can be arranged.
10. Does Medicare or Medicaid cover any of your services?
No. Golden Horizons is a private pay agency.
